Welcome to Craibstone, Aberdeen
Our Aberdeen campus is located on the Craibstone Estate, about 5 miles from the centre of Aberdeen, Scotland's third largest city. With excellent road, rail and air links the campus is easy to reach and is ideally placed to reach Scotland's stunning Highlands.
Living in Aberdeen
Craibstone Estate is about 5 miles from the centre of Aberdeen. Aberdeen is Scotland’s third-largest city with a quarter of a million people, two major universities and several colleges of further and higher education.
Aberdeen is a cosmopolitan and friendly place, with an impressive array of shopping, sports and social facilities. Worth a visit are The Maritime Museum, St. Machars Cathedral, Aberdeen Science Centre, Aberdeen Art Gallery, The Tolbooth, Gordon Highlanders Museum and Pitmedden Gardens and Museum of Farming Life.
Many of the highest mountains in the UK are a short drive away in the Highlands. There are long beaches and picturesque coastlines to enjoy and over half of Scotland’s whisky distilleries are in this region. Take to the waves on a boat trip to visit the dolphins that skirt the fringes of the busy harbour.
Aberdeenshire is steeped in history, with more castles per acre than anywhere else in the UK. It's also home to Scotland’s only dedicated Castle trail, with a selection of 17 unique castles.

There is also a bar that has snooker and pool tables and resident students can also join the Beacon Community Education and Sports Centre in Bucksburn, allowing the use of the swimming pool and other sports facilities provided. For golfers, there is an 18-hole pay and play golf course which is a 5-minute drive from the Campus. There is a bar and restaurant in the clubhouse.
Four Hills walkThe estate is also linked to the "Four Hills" walk, which many students and staff use for running and keep fit. Kirkhill Forest close by offers an excellent technical mountain bike course and also a great walking/running challenge. Students organise sports competitions with those from other SRUC campuses and other agricultural colleges.
