Mankind faces critical challenges over the coming decades. Biological science is at the centre of current global issues including food security and climate change.
Graduates with expertise in biological and agricultural sciences are well-equipped to help meet the many challenges we face in the future, including:
- Limited land and resources
- The growing global population
- Sustainability of food supply, energy and raw materials
- Reducing our impact on the natural environment
How can we develop agricultural systems that are resilient to climate change and disease epidemics and that deliver increased yields of crops and livestock, using less energy and with improved standards of animal welfare?
SRUC graduates can expect a very rewarding career in biological sciences, helping to answer these questions. Your studies will include visits to relevant research institutes, commercial companies and local and SRUC-owned farms.
Gain a strong foundation in the biology and biochemistry of animals, plants and microorganisms as well as skills in the practical and laboratory techniques.
